Today we visited BAIF NGO. Here we learned about history of the NGO how it was started by Mr. Manibhai Desai. He was follower of Mahathma Gandhi, also a freedom fighter. They started this organization to upgrade the quality of living among villagers. The organization is working in 22 villages of Hubli. In all of these villages they are focusing on SHG and it has given a good result in these villages. Mr.Nagedrappa Bulla manager explained about the activities of the organization.
I learned about Organic farming, here villagers were using agriculture Waste as fertilizer to their field. It gives good yield to them and also helping to improve soil fertility and health. I learned about wormy compost, how to make it and how it will useful to farmers. It is also an income generation program for farmers. Through this farmers are getting more benefits, not only in income also in soil health improvement and yield.
In this village we met a villager called Basavanagouda patil, he is a successful farmer and he adopted all new agriculture systems which were taught by BAIF. Initially he was not ready to adopt those new systems, but after convinced by NGO staffs he agreed to adopt. After this he did well whit his only one acre of land now he is earning more than 40 to 50 thousand in a year.
In Kampli Koppa we met Mr. Mallappa he is also adopted the same system of agriculture and earning much money in a year. Also he adopted this system for his whole field with his own interest. He is doing animal husbandry as income generation activity.
After noon we came back to DCSE and attended the class taken by Agriculture module facilitators. We shared our field visit experiences and presented in front of all fellows. I learned new type of evaluating instructors with the help of graph. It will help us to know the overall performance of the facilitator. At the end they conducted a test to know how much we learned agriculture module and if we have any doubt in the subject.
