Mr. Ravindra.Has took the module Participatory Rural Appraisal, It is a step to planning the activity which we are going to do in future. The module started with our introduction then we separated into five groups. We did a group activity on village mapping and find out whether this module is necessary in villages or not.
After noon, sir told about five W and H, means, what, why, when, who, where and how? We should do The PRA. Before conducting PRA we must follow some rules like, we should go through the reality in the villages, build rapport with villagers and attend in gramsaba to discuss about the problems.
To conduct PRA we should follow these steps like, Multi-disciplinary team should go to the field. Before going to the village we must collect secondary datas from other organizations. Then visit to the village to arrange the gram sabha. On which date, time and venue decided by villagers we must agree for that date. Arrange all the materials. One day before we should inform the villagers. After all this steps we can organize PRA in that particular village. Evening all groups did this activity with performing a skit. It gave us brief idea about preparation for PRA.
Today we learned about what are the things to be followed before and during the PRA, Principles and tools of PRA.
Before PRA we should follow these,

* Meet people with open and frank mind.
* Greet them when you meet them.
* Tell them who you are and why you are come here.
* Build up personal rapport with the villagers.
* Identify villagers who are veiling to share their experience.
* Select suitable place for interview.


During PRA

* Listen carefully, show empathy be patient and don’t lecture.
* Try to understand villager’s ways of reasoning.
* Polite
* Flexible and innovative
* Adjust the villager convenience
* Respect the villagers
* Accept the hospitality
* To give the chance for participating
* Don’t ask sensitive matters.


Principles of PRA,

* Mapping.
* Venn diagram.
* Timelines.
* Seasonality studies.

At the end of the day all of us divided into two groups and conducted a social map activity, through this we learned about planning, problem analyzing, finding solution, and involving villagers to the activity.
